PURPOSE: To prevent the release of return refrigerant gas into a totally-enclosed container for reducing a cylinder chamber in capacity by providing a porous material in the clearance between the expanded portion of the suction pipe of a suction silencer and a return refrigerant gas inflow pipe.
CONSTITUTION: A compressor mechanism 2 and a motor 3 are provided in a totally-enclosed container, and the internal pressure of the container 1 is reduced low. A porous material 27 is provided in the clearance A between the expanded portion 26 of the suction pipe 25 of a suction silencer 22 provided on the compressor mechanism 2 and an inflow pipe 24 in which return refrigerant gas flows. The large flow resistance of the material 27 prevents the release of return refrigerant gas into the space B of the container 1 so that the whole quantity of return refrigerant gas is introduced into a cylinder chamber 10 to reduce the heat required for heating refrigerant gas. Thereby, suction refrigerant gas is reduced in specific volume for reducing the chamber 10 in capacity.
